Close Encounters Theatre will create an innovative ensemble based production of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein at MILLERS on December 6 and 7. Frankenstein tells the story of gifted scientist Victor Frankenstein who succeeds in giving life to a being of his creation. However, this is not the perfect specimen he imagines that it will be, but rather a hideous creature who he and humankind rejects. In a world on the brink of a new age of artificial intelligence, the creation of life in our own image is a valid area of exploration. What does it mean to be human? What possibilities and inventions are before us? If we have the science to create human consciousness, should we?
