The coupe décalé is an afro-musical genre popular in the years 2000 and 2010 in Cote d'Ivoire and adopted by young adolescents of these decades. In the early 2000's, this mode of musical expression appeared, initiated by young Ivorians living in France with tonic rhythms inspired by Ivorian and Congolese percussion, joyful lyrics and an art of dressing in branded clothing. Soon enough, these dances and this musical trend returned to the Ivory Coast and West Africa and became popular under the impulse of DJs.
